B. Braun Melsungen and Primaus System Technologies have jointly developed injection moulding machines equipped with Priamaus technology designed to guarantee the highest quality injection moulding at any place of production.
Karl-Heinz Koch, Head of B. Braun Technology Centre says, “The challenges in the international environment have brought both companies together in order to guarantee the required quality standard in injection moulding independent from the place of production.”
As sales representative of Priamus, Christian Reich explains “Moulds manufactured at B. Braun in Germany are sampled and process validated so that all mould data for constant quality are laid down in Germany. During series production in global production facilities the same quality is guaranteed by controlling on these reference data. “
According to B. Braun, different components, produced with 16- or 24-cavity moulds, result in unbalanced filling of the cavities and therefore causes danger of incompletely filled parts. This in turn can result in a broken mould core, with high repair costs and downtimes.
B. Braun and Priamus explain they have developed a process reliable solution, by placing extremely small and highly sensitive cavity temperature sensors at the end of the flow path for each cavity. Providing information about the melt front, these sensors guarantee the simultaneous filling of the cavities by automatically balancing and recognising short shots in real-time in order to prevent the brake of the cores. Furthermore, they say, bad parts are automatically sorted out through the monitoring of the measurement data which are also documented. The Primaus systems used for this purpose are solely based on information from the cavity, such as the cavity pressure and cavity temperature signals which are monitored and controlled themselves.
