The JEC Americas 2013 Show will take place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, Boston, US on 2-4 October 2013.
Over the years, JEC Group has developed long standing relationships in the Americas with major players in the composites industry and prominent American organisations, enabling the sharing of knowledge, increased participation in projects and business exchanges, which has all helped to build an outstanding network.
2013 Show Preview
The show will bring together academics, raw material producers, equipment suppliers, intermediate products, distributors, processors, end users and the composites media.
“The Americas are a critical strategic market for anyone hoping to compete in the global composites industry. The region represents 34% of the global composites industry in value and 32% in volume, and is a leading innovator in key composites end-markets, including transportation, aeronautics, automation and wind energy,” said Frédérique Mutel, JEC’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
JEC Americas will highlight the following four, key composites sectors.
Ninth Innovative Composites Summit
JEC Americas 2013 will fulfil one of the organisation’s key missions: sharing leading-edge innovations within the composites community. It will provide a stage for the Ninth Innovative Composites Summit (ICS), a programme of strategic and technical conferences and forums. The preliminary programme features sessions on composites design and processing; composites’ contribution to civil engineering, automotive, aeronautics and security applications; and advances in materials technologies.
“JEC Americas is a collaboration amongst many stakeholders.” says Frédérique Mutel. “The I.C.S. will feature speakers from Americas’ composites associations, universities, research centres and companies. In addition, multinational companies well established in North America will also be represented. We are committed to providing an outstanding programme for the composites industry as a whole, and for participants from the Americas and many global locations.”
In view of North America’s educational and scientific landscape, the conference will include a large Education & Skills Village that will host around 30 universities, composites and advanced-materials organisations, academic groups, market associations and scientific centres.
The second annual JEC Americas 2013 Innovation Awards will take place during the show. JEC says innovation is the key to its activities, and the JEC Americas Innovation Awards program will honour the best new products, processes and applications in the composites industry. This highly acclaimed program has already rewarded more than 700 companies and their partners throughout the world at ceremonies in Paris, Shanghai, Mumbai, Singapore and Boston. The winners and the laureates will exhibit their best composites solution at the Innovation Showcase during JEC Americas 2013.
Country of Honour
JEC Americas 2013 country of honour will be Canada, which is home to an estimated 300 composites companies, employing around 50,000 people. The Canadian Composites Industry will be showcased on the exhibition floor with a country pavilion as well as in the conference sessions and in many other activities and services around the event.
Interface Polymers has won one of the AkzoNobel ‘Paint the Future’ Awards given to innovative startups, winning an Award in the ‘Enhanced Functionality’ category.
Fibre handling expert and custom machinery manufacturer Cygnet Texkimp has developed an AGV-mounted mobile handling system using a collaborative robot capable of lifting packages of fibre weighing up to 35kg.
Research to develop a revolutionary high-performance composite metal hybrid stabiliser bar for trucks and trains has entered a new phase. The findings from the project to date show that the technology has the potential to spin out into other sectors such as aerospace and could see the UK take a global lead with this disruptive technology.
