On 4th October 2012, NetComposites will run its latest technical workshop titled “FRP Composite Materials in Railway Applications” at the Enterprise Centre in Derby.
Fibre reinforced polymer composites (FRPs) have been used in railway applications for many years. Their use has included everything from luggage racks to driver’s cabs, station platforms to footbridges. For trains themselves, FRPs offer designers opportunities for light-weighting, geometrical complexity, crashworthiness and design integration. As for their use in infrastructure, FRPs offer the advantage of offsite modular construction, thereby minimising disruption to passengers and operators, as well as enhanced durability.
This half day event will look at the latest uses for fibre reinforced polymers (FRP’s) in the railway industry, their opportunities and challenges. Presentations include:
Registration for this event is now open at £95 (ex VAT) for a full delegate place and £65 (ex VAT) for students. For more information and to register visit http://www.netcomposites.com/workshops or contact the organiser, Claire Whysall on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The MIA is delighted to support ‘Composites in Motorsport’, a 2-day conference organised by NetComposites, which will look at the innovative use of composites within our industry and future applications of composite solutions within motorsport.
Shape provides accurate CNC machined patterns and Rohacell foams to support the manufacture of the carbon composite structures used on their 2019 car that is due to compete at Silverstone on 19 July 2019.
