The opening ceremony of Compocity will be attended by José Carlos Wanderley Dias de Freitas, President of the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE), from Brazilian Ministry of Education.
“Compocity will show our ability to develop solutions for all segments, from infrastructure and energy to transportation, housing and leisure,” said Gilmar Lima, president of ALMACO. Covering an area of 3,000 square meters, Compocity will have houses approved by Minha Casa, Minha Vida, (Federal Government Housing Program) and schools built in accordance with the standards of FNDE. The area dedicated to applications in energy includes wind blades, transmission poles and a gas station; the “neighbourhood” focused on solutions for the transportation industry includes bus, off road vehicles, cars and a twin-engine plane; the leisure area includes skate park, pool, pier, jetski and a boat; in the central plaza there are kiosks, shops, ATM and a phone booth. There are also signposts for streets, bus stops and other items common to a real city.
“Composites are part of our daily life, although many people are not aware of that. And Compocity will also help to show that we can support Brazil increasingly develop, from the supply of products that combine high technology, lightness, resistance and economic viability,” says Lima.
ALMACO also reserved an area at Compocity for the operation of a recycling station. The system of reuse of the material – composites are 100% recyclable – was developed by the association in partnership with the Institute of Technological Research (IPT). “Besides reusing waste, our sector often uses resins derived from renewable sources and natural fibres, such as jute and sisal,” explained Lima.
