Atlas Composites have won a contract with British Cycling to supply composite components manufactured at its 25,000 square foot production facility.
Commenting after his recent site visit to Atlas Composites Individual Pursuit Gold Medalist Chris Boardman MBE, now a Research and Development consultant at British Cycling, is acutely aware of the value composites engineering can bring to the sport at such a critical time on the track for the latest crop of riders. “Saving weight in a moveable object reduces the power to move it. A combination of world-class frame design, excellent materials and specific lightweight components gives you a bike which feels natural to ride, is comfortable and provides the perfect platform to go on and achieve medal success.”

Atlas explain that Derby City Council have recently submitted plans for a new 20m velodrome on Pride Park highlighting a prosperous future for British Cycling, which they say should see a growth in demand for high performance engineered composite components.
Angel Trains, one of Britain’s leading train leasing companies, has collaborated with engineering consultancy ESG Rail, and 3D printing technology provider Stratasys, to produce four fully approved interior components using 3D printing, also known as Additive Manufacturing.
The Brazilian composite sector expects to close 2018 with a turnover of US$ 685 million, a high of 3.8% compared to the previous year.
