True Temper Release High-Performance Golf Shaft Featuring TeXtreme

07 February 2012

Golf shaft manufacturer True Temper recently released the new high-performance model Project X Black which uses TeXtreme Spread Tow Fabrics designed to reduce weight and simultaneously improve crucial performance parameters to achieve an ultra light high-performance shaft with the right feel.

According to Oxeon, the new Project X Black features reduced weight from the original Project X graphite for explosive power while preserving critical tip stability and low spin performance. Featuring proprietary Dual Torsional Control, Project X Black reduces spin rates at impact for optimised peak trajectory with flatter descent angles for maximum carry and roll.

“TeXtreme is a revolutionary carbon material that allows us to eliminate weight compared to the original design, while maintaining the low torque, low spin properties that established Project X as the standard for all high-performance composite shafts,” says Don Brown, Product Development Manager and designer of the new Project X Black shaft.

“Our proprietary Dual Torsional Control technology pairs the TeXtreme fibres on the outermost layers of the shaft with super-high modulus torsional plies inside to reduce dynamic shaft twisting by as much as 25% compared to traditional designs.”

Oxeon say that True Temper uses an 80gsm TeXtreme carbon fabric positioned in a 45 degree angle along the shaft to achieve the mechanical properties desired.

Andreas Martsman, VP – Head of Business Development of Oxeon, says “We are happy to work together with True Temper and being able to help them in the development of this truly high-performance shaft. They have made the most out of TeXtreme and the results clearly illustrate the importance of choosing the right reinforcement."
