Composites Vision Launch Plyform

14 February 2012

Composites Vision have launched Plyform, a profiled plank product designed to provide a fast and effective way to produce patterns and direct moulds, which are stable up to 80°C.

According to Composites Vision, Plyform planks can be bonded together and to the frames using low cost PU adhesives or higher thermal performance epoxy adhesives depending on the required temperature performance of the plug or direct mould.  They say Plyform is available in 3 widths, 25mm, 50mm and 75mm and in lengths up to 4m.  The planks are stored at a temperature between 18°C and 25°C and at a relative humidity less than 60%.

Composites Vision explain that Plyform has a low thermal expansion of 3 to 5 x 10-6m/m per °C, a low density, 680Kg/m3, and a reduced finishing time compared to other paste products. They say that, when combined with CAD design and CNC technology, Plyform allows fast and accurate assembly of plugs or direct tooling for composite part manufacture.
