Premier Composite Technologies (PCT) have won the Blueprint Award for ‘Best Stand’ at 100% Design for their Modular Fabrication stand, designed by UNStudio and engineered, manufactured and installed by PCT.
PCT explain that their modular fabrication stand celebrates the creation of spatial possibilities with advanced composite materials. They explain that the collaboration with UNStudio presents a construction based on the repetition of a single geometric module. Moulded from carbon fibre and epoxy resin combined with a structural foam core, the repeated assembled units capitalise on the lightweight and extreme strength properties of the composite materials and create the potential for highly customised architectural configurations.
PCT say the modular fabrication stand covered an area of 50m2 and was chosen from over 400 exhibitors to win the ‘Best Stand’ award by a judging panel that included among others Deyan Sudjic, Benjamin Spriggs, Sunday Times Style and Johnny Tucker, Editor, Blueprint.
Covestro is pushing ahead with developing and marketing its continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) composites by introducing Maezio as brand name.
Shape Machining has pressed the first batch of parts that combine short fibre sheet moulding compound (SMC) over an optimised, long fibre carbon ShapeTex preform.
3M is adding Scotch-Weld Multi-Material Composite Urethane Adhesives DP6310NS and DP6330NS to its portfolio of structural adhesives. These products are designed for lightweight assemblies in trucks, buses, RVs, speciality vehicles and passenger rail, and other markets like sporting goods and panels.
