European Inventor Award Trophy made of Arboform

This year the European Inventor Award 2011 trophy has been created using Tecnaro’s Arboform, created by mixing lignin with natural fibres.

Lignin is an abundant natural polymer and is a by-product of the pulp industry with a volume worldwide of about 50 million tonnes per year.

Arboform mixes lignin with natural fibres (flax, hemp or other fibre plants) and some natural additives to produce a fibre composite that can be processed on conventional plastics processing machines.

Since 2006, the European Patent Office and the European Commission have annually awarded the European Inventor Award for patent-based inventions of five categories: Industry, SME’s, Research, Lifetime Achievement and Non-European Countries. The awards ceremony, which took place on the 19th May, was attended by Mr. Helmut Nägele und Mr. Jürgen Pfitzer, last years winners and Tecnaro managers.
