Dr. Rikard Heslehurst, Professional Trainer at Abaris Training and Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and the Australian Defence Academy, has been honoured by the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) when he was inducted into the 2011 class of SAMPE Fellows at a special ceremony in May held in Long Beach, California.
SAMPE say ""The Fellow Award represents prestigious recognition of a SAMPE member for distinguished contributions in the fields of materials and processes."" In his official citation, Heslehurst was commended for his 30 years of experience in “composite damage assessment, composites repair technology, and the critical design and analysis methodology necessary for bonded and bolted joints in advanced composites.”
According to Abaris, Heslehurst regularly teaches courses in Structural Engineering for Composite Repair, Composite Structural Design, Composite Joint Analysis and Composites for Managers, a course designed for professionals who manage composites specialists but may not have a deep understanding of the technology.
Mike Hoke, President of Abaris Training said, “Abaris has spent the last 28 years acquiring the best, most effective trainers in the composites and aircraft industries and Rik’s capability exemplifies that commitment. We are proud to have him on our staff and pleased that SAMPE has given him the recognition of being a SAMPE Fellow.”
