Sogel launches an AINSI approved gel coat for PUR composites

08 February 2011

Sogel's Hybrathan product , a gel coat specially formulated for polyurethane composites, has passed all the manufacturing requirements for sanitary applications.

After successfully launching its Hybrathan gel coat series for the marine industry in 2007, Sogel and TSE Industries have combined synergies to develop a PUR composite for sanitary applications. The new composite uses a Hybrathan gel coat supplied by Sogel and a polyurethane reinforcement provided by TSE Industries. Sogel say that this new composite has passed all of the American National Standards requirements for plastic bathtubs, shower receptors and shower stalls, IAPMO/ANSI Z 124.1.2.2005, Section 6.1.

Sogel say that Hybrathan features excellent bonding to PUR composites, high-gloss retention (90% 92%), processability and is user-friendliness: it can be applied using traditional airless equipment and parts can be manufactured using standard FRP tooling. Hybrathan has been used in the manufacturing of more than 150,000 personal water craft parts for over 3 years.
