Advanced Composites Group (ACG) will be exhibiting a number of shot panels manufactured using a hot press moulding technique with their S2-Glass reinforced MTM82 phenolic resin and MTM248S epoxy resin prepregs on Stand N6-571 at the DSEi show in the ExCeL centre, London, 13-16 September 2011.
ACG explain that their prepreg products are used in a variety of defence applications ranging from ballistic and blast protection systems in armoured fighting vehicles to structural components for vehicle, naval and aerospace applications, including: UAVs, radomes and communication dishes. They say the dismounted soldier is also well-provided for with advanced composite materials used in lightweight helmets and body armour.
According to ACG, the panels on show can be moulded to the requisite shape to manufacture spall liners which match the contours of the vehicle interior, thus increasing the protected area while reducing overall component weight. They say the materials are currently in full-scale production and ballistics protection parts have now been supplied for fitment to an in-service fleet of vehicles. ACG will also demonstrate how some of these materials can be used in structural blast applications by simply changing the processing technique.
CRP USA will display solutions for the space industry manufactured in the Windform family of materials at Satellite Innovation 2018 at the Silicon Valley Computer History Museum, Mountain View, California, US, on 9-11 October.
