Advanced Composites Group Ltd. (ACG), have launched MTM 82S-C,a phenolic resin system available as a prepreg which has been designed to offer outstanding fire performance to mass transit, industrial, and construction applications.
MTM82S-C is said to offer excellent mechanical properties in combination with exceptional fire performance, where the operating temperature is within the range -55 to 80°C (-67 to 176°F).
Manufacturers say that under fire conditions, MTM82S-C laminates exhibit extremely low fire propagation and surface spread of flames, together with low smoke and toxic gas emission.
This means the product meets the requirements of: British Standards BS 476 Part 6 and 7, and BS 6853 Cat 1a; French Standards NF P 92-501 Rating M1 and NF F 16-101 Rating F1; and German DIN5510 Ratings S2, SR2 and ST2.
ACG’s MTM82S-C is available for use with a wide range of carbon and glass fibre materials, and ACG say it is suitable for both monolithic and sandwich structures.
