Material Prices Increased

14 August 2009

Both AOC and Interplastic will be increasing the prices of their products at the end of August.

August Sees AOC Price Increase for United States and Canada

Effective as of 31st August 2009, AOC will increase prices on all products in the United States by $0.08 per pound, and US$0.18 per kilo in Canada.

Crude Oil prices have more than doubled since February 2009 and major raw materials used to produce Unsaturated Polyester Resin, Gel Coats and Vinyl Esters have experienced supply issues.

Suppliers to AOC are not in a position to absorb increasing feed stock cost as a result, all raw materials costs have increased.

Price Increase for CoREZYN and Silmar

Steve Wetzel, National Sales Manager, and Daryl Francis, Business Manager West, have confirmed that Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division is raising the price of CoREZYN and Silmar brand products $.08 per pound for shipments on or after August 29, 2009.

This increase includes all vinyl esters, polyesters, specialty resins, gel coats, colorants, and putties.

The cost increase has been attributed to the rising cost of raw materials. “The recent sharp increase in crude oil and derivative products has put increased pressure on the price of all polyester raw materials. In particular styrene monomer has significantly increased three months in a row,” says Wetzel.
