Fiberforge has signed a licensing agreement with Oribi Manufacturing of Denver, Colorado, to develop and produce advanced composite parts for the outdoor, sporting goods, medical and industrial markets using Fiberforge’s patented Relay Station.
According to Steven Mead, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Fiberforge, “Our partnership with Oribi Manufacturing is a win for both parties. Oribi is quickly becoming the go-to resource for thermoplastic composite parts in North America in the licensed markets. With them on board, we are much more capable of competing on cost with overseas production. And now, when a customer needs engineering as well as high-volume production in these markets, we can deliver a complete solution.”
Jack Wilfley, President of Oribi Manufacturing adds, “After investigating the various composite production methods available to us, we felt Fiberforge brought the most to the table in terms of knowledge, experience, and most importantly, in the ability to produce composite parts in high volumes for the lowest possible cost. This partnership will bring continued advantages to both companies as the thermoplastic composites industry continues to grow.”
Oribi’s production system was delivered and installed in January of 2009. Oribi is already developing products for customers in the paddle sports, skateboard and backpacking markets, and has a number of other programs in the pipeline.
Fiberforge’s flagship product, the Relay manufacturing system, is designed to enable the affordable production of lightweight advanced-composite structures in high volumes. The Fiberforge Relay station produces parts with high fibre alignment, high fibre fraction and long fibre length at high speed with low scrap. Fiberforge offers in-house production, application development, and technology licensing.

Scigrip has expanded its agreement with Biesterfeld Spezialchemie to include France and the French territories in Northern Africa, with immediate effect.
