Cook Composites and Polymers and the US Composite Resins business of Hexion Specialty Chemicals will both increase prices in August.
CCP will make an $.08 per pound price increase for all gel coats, unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins. All materials packaged in steel containers will increase an additional .04 per pound. New pricing is effective with shipments made on or after August 4, 2008.
Hexion will increase prices of all Unsaturated Polyester and Vinyl Ester resins by $0.08 per pound effective for products shipped on / or after August 15, 2008.
Hexion say that this price increase reflects the continued escalation of energy and chemical intermediate costs.

UK company Prodrive Composites has developed a process for manufacturing recyclable composite components that can satisfy future end-of-life requirements without any compromise in the performance of the original parts. The company says the P2T (Primary to Tertiary) process not only simplifies recycling, but endows a composite material with the potential to fulfil three or more useful lifetimes.
