With a large number of special forums like workshops, live demonstrations and the 9th International AVK Congress, the Composites Europe team says that it offers three days of unique opportunities for doing business, exchanging experiences and networking.
Composites Europe will start with the 9th International Conference of the Federation of Reinforced Plastics (Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe e.V. - AVK), to be held for the first time in Essen from 19th to 20th September 2006. Under the motto “Competitive through composites“, it will present state-of-the-art technology as well as future applications in the field of reinforced plastics. In addition to presenting a picture of the European market in general, it will focus on the areas of transportation, tubes and tanks, natural fibres, RTM, processes and test procedures, materials and thermoplastic composites. AVK expects approximately 500 international participants.
During its annual congress, AVK will also present its Innovation Award which will be subdivided into three awards altogether: the Industrial Applications Award, the Environment Award, and the University Research Award. With these, AVK will distinguish new marketable products, environmentally friendly processes and outstanding scientific achievements. The awards will be presented during the Composites Night on 19th September. The award-winning products will then be on display from the first day of the fair in the Product Demonstration Area.
Within the show itself, the Product Demonstration Area will show examples of practical applications and highlights of composites. An exhibition will trace the path from the raw materials to the finished product. Live demonstrations will explain a variety of production processes, from injection moulding to pultrusion. In cooperation with the IKV Aachen, Composites Europe will show special test procedures to demonstrate the properties of composites as compared to other materials.
A survey of the possible applications of composites will be found in the Exhibitor Presentation Area. Here the exhibitors present at Composites Europe will demonstrate their product know-how, the very latest trends and the most important innovations.
Reinforced Plastics, the industry magazine and media partner for the fair, will organise an seminar programme with daily workshops which will deal, among other things, with the application areas of “Automotive Applications“ and “Aerospace Industry“. Under the motto “Learning Composites“, visitors will hear and see everything worth knowing about composite materials. In addition to giving a general overview of materials, the workshops will focus on production processes and applications. The programme will be rounded off by the “Composite Materials“ lecture series dedicated to the use of composite materials and to hybrid material systems.
Solvay has signed a ten-year agreement for the supply of composites and adhesives to be used across Bell's military and commercial rotorcraft programmes, including the Bell 429, 407, 505, 525, V-22, and UH-1.
SGL Carbon and Fraunhofer IGCV have officially opened the Fibre Placement Centre (FPC) at SGL's site in Meitingen, Germany. Compositence, BA Composites and the Chair for Carbon Composites at the Technical University of Munich have also joined the alliance, and Coriolis Group and Cevotec are planning to come on board as partners.
Fibrelite reports that since the start of its partnership with Trenwa more than 100 precast trench systems integrating Fibrelite composite covers have been sold for use in electrical substations, wastewater treatment plants, chemical refineries and many other applications across North America.
