US Glass Fibre Demand to Reach 8 Billion Pounds by 2011

12 June 2007

Glass fibre demand in the US is projected to grow nearly two percent annually to eight billion pounds in 2011, valued at $6.9 billion.

This new Freedonia industry study, Glass Fibers, says that textile glass fibre applications will be constrained by mature reinforced plastic uses and subdued demand for other reinforced products such as asphalt shingles. Overall glass fibre advances will result from cost and performance characteristics resulting from material and technology enhancements.

This study presents historical demand data for 1996, 2001 and 2006, with forecasts to 2011 and 2016 by glass fibre type and market. The study also considers market environment factors, evaluates company market share and profiles leading US industry competitors.
