Simulayt has launched Composites Modeler for Abaqus/CAE, enhancing the Simulayt product range which collectively allows efficient composites analysis, design and manufacture.
Composites Modeler complements and extends the new ply modelling features in Abaqus/CAE Version 6.7, from the Simulia brand of Dassault Systemes, by providing fibre simulation capabilities and advanced model building integrated within Abaqus/CAE. Full integration with Simulayt’s Layup Pipeline allows direct linkage with design and manufacture functions across the enterprise.
John Klintworth, CEO of Simulayt, commented: “The ethos of Simulayt is very compatible with the desire for excellence and realistic simulation which exists at Simulia. Our experience of relevant industries has shown us that the highest performance composites structures must be engineered using advanced simulation as early as possible in the development process. Our vision for Composites Modeler for Abaqus/CAE is that by integrating our proven fibre simulation in an efficient modelling environment coupled with industry-leading nonlinear finite element solvers, engineers will be able to develop fully verified structures in the shortest possible time. The ply model will then be transferable across the enterprise for detailed design and manufacture.”
Composites Modeler integrates into the Abaqus/CAE environment and allows analysts to undertake rapid fibre simulation to ensure that a specified model is manufacturable. The continuously-varying fibre angles reflecting the actual as-laid material can then be transferred directly to Abaqus to allow accurate simulations. Once design requirements are achieved, the composites model can be transferred to CATIA V5 for detailed design and manufacture.
