Reichhold, Scott Bader and DSM each plan price increases starting in May.
Reichhold has announced a price increase of 100 € (Euro) per metric ton on all of its products sold to the composites industry in the EMEA region (Europe / Middle East / Africa) effective for all orders shipped on or after May 1, 2007. “This increase is a necessary response to the rising cost of key feedstock and raw materials and escalating transportation and energy costs,” explained Reichhold Vice President of Sales, EMEA, Alberto Piccinotti. “Reichhold is making all possible efforts to minimize the impact of raw material costs and to secure the volumes required to support the growth of the composites industry,” Piccinotti said. “We appreciate our customers’ understanding during these challenging times,” he concluded.
Scott Bader will be increasing the prices of all Crystic unsaturated polyester, DCPD and Vinyl Ester resins, plus all gelcoats and Crystic Crestomer structural adhesives by 100 €/tonne on all deliveries from its European sites from May 7th 2007. Malcolm Forsyth, European Commercial Director, Composites business division of Scott Bader stated “The indications are that more raw material price rises are expected later in the year. Scott Bader is doing everything it can to minimise the price rises and, where possible, to work with our customers to minimise any negative impact on their business.”
DSM Composite Resins has made a price increase on all of its resins and gel coat products of €100 per metric tonne with effect from 1 May 2007. Gertjan de Koning, Business Director of Composite resins Europe, stated that the increase is an inevitable consequence of both the increasing price of crude oil and tight supply of specific raw materials and transportation.
