Reichhold, Prosim and Ege Kimya have jointly announced the creation of a strategic alliance in Turkey in the fields of unsaturated polyester resins for composites applications and saturated polyester resins for powder coatings.
Reichhold and Prosim have jointly formed Reichhold Turkey which will market composites and powder coating resins in the Turkish market. Prosim has been involved in selling Reichhold products since 1999.
Reichhold Turkey has signed a manufacturing agreement with Ege Kimya to source these products. Ege Kimya will upgrade their resin manufacturing plant in Adapazari, Turkey to manufacture state-of-the-art Reichhold products.
Doug Frey, Reichhold Executive VP, Global Composites stated, “Business development in rapid growth markets is very important for our future. We are very excited about this new alliance with two local partners.” Semih Iºçimenler, Managing Director of Prosim, commented, “Bringing Reichhold technology with local manufacturing to our customers will set new performance standards in the Turkish market.” Metin Mansur, Ege Kimya President added, “This collaboration will help Ege Kimya expand its business portfolio and to diversify into new markets.”
Reichhold was also recently named by Velocity Powerboats as ""The Best of the Best"" as the official vinyl ester resin supplier for the 100+ mph. 2007 Velocity 410 Super Sport Cruiser concept boat. Reichhold’s HYDREX 100 vinyl ester was chosen by Velocity in conjunction with carbon fibre and Kevlar reinforcements to provide the forty-one-foot Velocity Super Sport with the strength and aesthetics required for a boat capable of speeds up to 100 mph.
“Reichhold is honoured to have our HYDREX 100 vinyl ester resin selected for such a key component of the Velocity 410 Super Sport concept boat,” said Reichhold Open Mold Business Manager Phil Bridges. “This is an incredible boat, and we’re extremely pleased that HYDREX 100 was used for the entire laminate, giving it both strength and beauty.
Reichhold has also recently introduced a low-styrene, 100% vinyl ester resin in HYDREX 100-LV (33600) to help boat builders comply with new environmental regulations on styrene emissions.
Brazilian company Dilutec has developed a complete gelcoat portfolio for shipyards, for applications ranging from the manufacture of the boat mould to small repairs of the hulls and decks.
UK company Norco Composites has invested in a larger spray booth and a new cutting and kitting machine to enable the company to increase productivity in line with growing demand from its marine customers.
Hexagon Composites' subsidiary Hexagon Lincoln has been selected to supply high-pressure hydrogen tanks for the first hydrogen fuel cell vessel in the US.
