Roctool and Krauss-Maffei Collaborate

18 March 2006

Krauss-Maffei is currently exploring RocTool’s Cage System technology as a new innovative moulding technology, adapting a new process combination which should reduce cycle time and increase surface quality for LFI parts.

The Krauss-Maffei patented LFI (long-fibre injection) process is a cost-effective method of manufacturing light-weight, glass-fibre reinforced polyurethane parts and the Cage System is a RocTool patented process which heats only the tool surface in order to achieve a fast cycle time. RocTool and Krauss-Maffei will present the results of this collaboration mid 2006 with a full scale demonstration.

Supported since its creation in 2000 by its private and institutional shareholders, RocTool develops innovative processes and sells licences for the use of its patents. The company is currently made up of 15 employees. It is situated in Savoie Technolac, Bourget du Lac (France) and also has an office in Atlanta (USA). RocTool has twice been awarded the JEC Composite Award, once in 2001 and again in 2005.
