Simulayt has licenced its new product, Advanced Fiber Modeler software for the CATIA V5 Composites Workbench to Hawker de Havilland of Australia, for use in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner project.
Keith Baddock, HdH Composite Modeling Focal, commented ""The Advanced Fiber Modeller (AFM) add-on to the CATIA V5 composites suite has significantly improved both the speed and quality of the flat patterns produced from the 3D ply geometry. The ability of AFM to produce flat patterns ""on-the-fly"" is a significant aid in rapidly determining the best producability parameters for each ply to be developed. With AFM, we also have much more control over the fibre orientation, allowing us to better match both the design and manufacturing intent, giving us a better match between what is built and what is designed.""
Dr John Klintworth, CEO of Simulayt commented “We are delighted that Hawker de Havilland has chosen to use our product for this important work. We believe that AFM provides a uniquely fast and accurate solution for this type of complex manufacturing using carbon fiber. HdH is an important partner for Simulayt as it is known for adopting cutting edge design technology for more efficient and cost-effective development and production. We look forward to continuing our relationship with HdH to help improve the efficiency and accuracy of their design processes for composite parts”.
