In addition to quality improvements to their high end carbon fibre gangways, Exit Engineering is introducing two new carbon fibre steering wheels.
A 170 cm model goes to fill the gap between the existing 3 spoke 160 cm wheel and the big, 7 spoke, 180 cm model. This last one is in turn going to be substituted by a 3 spoke model of the same size, to present a uniform brand image and to make available also on this size the advantages of the new 3 spoke architecture.
Both new models will be ready for delivery by early July, with first deliveries of the 170 cm diameter wheel going to Dehler for installment on their 39SQ special series model.
The moulds have been built according to schedule and the first 170 cm prototype was tested and approved by mid June. Thanks to the experience gained by Exit Engineering from several years using its patented Continuous Shell construction Method, no major adjustments were needed by the new wheels before starting series production, which is already going on.
Toho Tenax is introducing a high-tensile, highly shock-resistant prepreg that incorporates carbon fibre developed for aerospace applications and carbon nanotubes (CNTs).
NTPT is collaborating with the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne - Swiss Centre of Technology (EPFL) and other partners to research discontinuous fibre composite tubes for high performance applications.
Hexcel is promoting its range of composite materials for skis, snowboards and other high performance winter sports equipment at ISPO Munich 2018 on 28-31 January.
