Saertex Group Opens a Plant in India

12 April 2006

The Saertex Group, producer of multiaxial interlaid scrim made of high-tech fibres, has opened a new plant in India.

A production space of 3,600 square metres costing 6 million Euros has been put up in Pune, 150 kilometres southeast of Bombay. With works in India plus other locations in Europe, the USA and South Africa the Saertex Group considers itself extremely well placed to meet rising demand for high-tech scrim.

The works in India is mainly intended to serve the Asian wind power, automobile and shipbuilding industries. 35 employees produce an annual 6,000 tonnes of scrim made of non-crimp fabrics on two production lines. This is to be expanded to six production lines by the end of 2006.

""India has several benefits as a location for the Asian market"", Bruno Lammers, managing partner of the Saertex Group, explains. ""The proximity to our clients has top priority for us. Many of our clients now produce in India, as the Asian market is growing rapidly. We naturally didn't want to miss the bus"".

Marketing director Marc Schrief also views Asia as a major market for the group subsidiary Saertex Multicom. They produce the Saertex LINER, a glass fibre tube used in cleansing wastewater canals.
