Scott Bader Modernise Polyester Plant in France

16 September 2005

A brand new 20 tonne reactor was successfully installed during the summer shutdown period at Scott Bader's production plant in Amiens France as part of its plans to improve production if its composites business.

The new reactor is part of the ongoing modernisation programme of its production facilities for the Composites business to improve production efficiency and to maintain the high quality standards for its range of Crystic unsaturated polyester resins, with improved batch to batch consistency using new automated production quality control systems.

“We were very pleased to complete the new reactor installation on time and to have it fully operational to go on stream immediately after summer shutdown” commented Mr. Jean Marc Bain, Scott Bader’s European Operations Director, going on to add, “This is a key investment that Scott Bader has made as part of our long term commitment to the Composites industry and to our customers, ensuring we maintain our market competitiveness with modern production facilities.”

This investment in manufacturing follows two other major investment projects completed by The Scott Bader Group in recent years; a new UK plant for the Speciality Polymer business was built back in 2003 to support their business globally and an additional reactor was installed in 2004 in the Scott Bader Middle East plant in Dubai to support business growth in the Middle East, North Africa and India.
