Scott Bader, Interplastic, Cooks Composites and Polymers, Hexion Speciality Chemicals, AOC and Reichhold, are to increase the price of their resins.
Scott Bader will be increasing sales prices for all its range of Crystic polyester resins, gelcoats and Crystic Crestomer bonding products by 100 €/t on all deliveries from its European sites from 20th Sept 2005.
Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division is raising the prices of CoREZYN and Silmar brand products. Vinyl ester, polyester, specialty resins, gel coats, colorants, and putties will be increased $0.10 per pound for shipments on or after October 1, 2005.
Cook Composites and Polymers will increase pricing by $.10 per pound on all polyester and vinyl ester products. These include CCP gel coats, unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), vinyl ester products, print blockers, Xycon products and others.
The Composite Polymers business of Hexion Specialty Chemicals, are to increase the price by $0.10 per pound for all Unsaturated Polyester and Vinyl Ester resins. The increase is effective for all products shipped on / or after Saturday, October 1, 2005.
AOC will increase prices by US $0.10 per pound on all products sold in the United States and Canada shipped on or after September 20, 2005.
Reichhold are to make a price increase of $ 0.10 per pound for its unsaturated polyester resins and other products sold to the composites industry in North America. This increase is effective for all orders shipped on or after October 1, 2005.
""Our industry had begun to see an escalation of raw material costs that began in July and August,"" explains Reichhold Business Management Director Bill Schramm. ""That trend had led us to a point that we were almost certainly going to have to announce an increase for October. However, the impact which Hurricane Katrina has had on fuel prices, and other petroleum-based raw materials hastened the need for this increase,"" Schramm said.
Supply of all feed stocks are very tight due to production shutdowns and transportation issues. This is having an immediate effect on basic polyester raw materials such as styrene, maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and all glycols.
""The transportation industry has already doubled fuel surcharges, and these costs are expected to drive freight costs even higher,"" Schramm said.
