Hardwire has introduced a new 24-inch wide reinforcement tape of its patented twisted steel wire reinforcement.
The new product is a further development of the companies provision of protective panels for Homeland Security, infrastructure armour, and other security applications requiring protective solutions. According to Hardwire CEO and founder George Tunis, the aforementioned applications require fabrication of a variety of large panels and increasing the size of the product offering is important to meeting the market need.
“This new offering is part of the natural progression of our expanding product line that was anticipated at the outset,” said Tunis. “As our products become accepted in the markets we serve, our customers seek means to simplify their lay-ups and have thus demanded a wider product. The investments implemented in the first quarter of this year have allowed for this important change in the breadth of our product line.”
The reinforcement materials is made from high strength twisted steel wire cords, which the company assert to be 11 times stronger than a typical steel plate – “Hardwire easily reinforces various materials and provides high strength (up to 8 kips/inch) and high modulus (up to 30-million psi) in a very thin, ductile envelope”. According to the product literature, the product can also be moulded into or on virtually any structure or part.
Brian Gallagher, Director of Marketing for Structural Preservation Systems, said that as a leading provider of structural strengthening solutions, products, and services, SPS welcomes this latest in a long line of innovations from Hardwire.
“The 24-inch wide products will simplify and speed the installation of SPS' flooring strengthening and repair solutions,"" said Gallagher.
Tunis added that Hardwire expects to follow the 24-inch product launch with the introduction of 48-inch and wider products later this year.
