Reichhold and DOW Derakane Make Additional Resin Price Increases

06 August 2004

Reichhold’s price increases affect the region of Mexico; DOW’s price increase affects orders in the Asia Pacific region.

Reichhold have made an increase on all acrylic resins as well as all unsaturated polyesters sold in Mexico. Acrylic resins for coatings applications will increase by 10%, effective August 1, 2004, while unsaturated polyesters for composites will increase by 9% for all orders shipped on or after August 9, 2004.

Dow is increasing prices on all grades of Derakane Epoxy Vinyl Ester Resins by US$300/MT in Asia Pacific. The increases are effective September 1, 2004, or as contract terms permit.

Dow said the continued escalation and volatility in raw material and energy costs is the primary reason for the price increase.
