Integrated Composites Contribute CFRP to Black Hawk Helicopter.

24 March 2005

Integrated Composites, Inc. has been selected by the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) in Ft. Eustis, Virginia to design, develop and manufacture the Light Armament Support Structure (LASS) for the Black Hawk helicopter.

The new all-composite structure will replace the existing aluminium structure and will utilize all carbon structural members with glass fairings.

Integrated Composites, Inc. estimates a 10 to 12 -month development program with a multi-year production follow-on. “We’re very excited about this new project and the prospect of continuing our very successful relationship with AATD,” states Joe Johnson, CEO of Integrated Composites, Inc. The company has successfully developed two other composite structures for the U.S. Army’s Kiowa Warrior helicopter.

AATD is a Directorate of the Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Centre, a part of the Research, Development & Engineering Command.
