Physical Testing Company to Serve Composites Industry

18 March 2005

A new physical testing company, Bcomtesting, Inc., has been launched to provide evaluation of mechanical and physical properties of composites for both fabricators and suppliers to the composites industry.

Based in Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA, Bcomtesting offers a wide variety of testing capabilities with a specialization in composites evaluation. Bcomtesting performs an extensive number of tests under specific standards. While the array of tests offered differs in type and complexity, a brief summary of the most common tests conducted includes:

Tensile Testing
Flexural Testing
Compression
Shear
Hardness
Glass-to-Resin Ratios

Bcomtesting claims that it offers state-of-the-art physical and mechanical testing services at a fraction of the cost of most labs with all the staff offering experience with composite production. Bcomtesting assert that each engineer has a minimum of 10 years experience in testing composites and polymers with knowledge in the use of fixtures and new testing method designs.

To provide greater value for customers, Bcomtesting state that they evaluate twice as many specimens as required by ASTM standards for mechanical properties, providing better statistical distribution of the materials tested. Cost per specimen are roughly 50% less than that of competing testing companies for mechanical properties and 18% less for physical properties determination, according to Bcomtesting.
