Ashland, Reichhold, Interplastic and Scott Bader increase resin prices.
Ashland Composite Polymers is increasing the price of its unsaturated polyester resin and gelcoat products sold in Europe and Africa by 100 euros per metric ton, effective April 1, 2005. This price increase is driven by a continuing and relentless escalation of raw material and energy costs. This price adjustment is in addition to already announced increases.
Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division is raising the prices of CoREZYN brand Vinyl Ester resin, $0.15 per pound. The increase will apply to shipments on or after April 2, 2005, and is in addition to the previously announced increase of March 19, 2005.
Reichhold are to make a price increase of $ 0.15 per pound on all vinyl ester resins sold in the United States and Canada, effective for orders shipped on or after April 6. This increase supplants the $.04 per pound price for unsaturated polyester resins which takes effect March 21. That earlier increase on polyesters will not apply to vinyl ester resins from Reichhold.
Reichhold are also increasing prices by 100 € (Euro) per metric ton (0.10€/Kg) on all of its products sold to the Composites industry in the EMEA region (Europe / Middle East / Africa). This increase is effective for all orders shipped on or after April 1, 2005.
Scott Bader will be increasing sales prices for all its range of Crystic polyester resins, gelcoats and Crystic Crestomer bonding products by a further 100 €/t on all deliveries from its European sites from 4th April 2005. This increase is in addition to all previously announced increases, which have taken effect during 2004 and Q1 2005.
All companies refer to the sharp increases in the costs of key raw materials such as styrene, which seem certain to continue well into Q2 2005, on the back of record high crude oil prices, and growing demand.
Composite products, based on polyurethane technologies from global chemical company Huntsman, are taking centre stage at a design exhibition at the Design Museum Gent, Belgium.
