The appointment was announced during the SAMPE 2004 annual spring meeting and the Society's 60th Anniversary in Long Beach, California.
Currently, Balko is Senior Vice President of PROMAX & BDA, a television marketing and design trade association based in Los Angeles. He oversaw the educational programming for the association, including the launch of conferences in Asia, Europe and Latin America. He has extensive experience in working with their Boards of Directors. Prior to that, he was a Senior Administrator at the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. A native of Detroit, Balko is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and has earned his Bachelor of Science at Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI) and a Masters of Arts at Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, MI).
“Balko brings to The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) the leadership skills and commitment to excellence the association needs in order to serve our engineers,” said Clark Johnson, SAMPE International President. “In this changing world, we are confident that Balko’s leadership will meet every challenge. The diversity of his experience at both PROMAX and BDA, as well as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, will serve SAMPE well.”
