25 June 2004

Egyptair has taken delivery of the first of seven Airbus A330-200s on order, becoming a new operator of the type.

Egyptair will use the aircraft on routes to Europe and within the Middle East.

'The Airbus A330-200 is by far the top of the aircraft pyramid in the 250 seat class, with a passenger-pleasing cabin, attractive economics, and cost-saving modern technology,' says Egyptair Holding Company Chairman General Atef Abdel Hamid Mostafa.

The A330-200, like all passenger aircrafts that Airbus produces feature widespread weight-saving carbon fibre composites.

Egyptair was Airbus' first customer in the Arab world, and remains one of its largest customers in the Middle East.
