New Plastic Welder SD Adhesive Can Be Sanded to a Nonporous Finish

18 June 2004

A New Plastic Welder SD (sandable) adhesive from Devcon has been released for the purposes of bonding various polyesters, polycarbonates, styrenics and composites.

The Adhesive works on materials where the filler material is sanded to a smooth, nonporous finish. Its low-exotherm formula exhibits no expansion or foaming, and its low odor and ease of application make it a practical choice for many OEM assembly operations.

A structural methacrylate adhesive that requires little or no surface preparation, Plastic Welder SD fills gaps, bonds to “green” fiberglass without sagging, and can be used to join engineered plastics to dissimilar substrates such as metals, ceramics, and wood. It produces high-strength, load-bearing bonds that are resistant to weathering, impact, and peeling and withstand service temperatures to 250°F.
