Goodrich to Supply Boeing HyFly

24 October 2002

Goodrich's Advanced Composite Materials team has been selected to supply the forward inlet cowl and other high-temperature refractory composite structures for the HyFly program.

Goodrich has also been selected by Boeing's Phantom Works Advanced Research and Development unit to supply the Control Actuation System for the HyFly demonstration program.

The HyFly program is funded jointly by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Office of Naval Research. The goal is to create a dual-combustion, ramjet-based hypersonic missile that can be launched from aircraft, surface ships, and submarines. During the four-year program, Boeing will test fly eleven air vehicles, eight of which will be powered by dual- combustion ramjet engines and will fly at speeds of up to Mach 6.
