Boeing delays Sonic Cruiser

Boeing Co has pushed back the date it expects to begin delivery of its Sonic Cruiser supersonic aircraft to 2008 from the previously stated 2006, according to the marketing vice-president for civil aviation, Randy Baseler.

""Boeing wants to put further technology in the plane. We are working on the development of new jet engines based on those used on the Boeing 777 and we are going to include more composite materials,"" Baseler told journalists in Paris. The Sonic Cruiser will carry 250 passengers at a speed of Mach.95 to Mach.98.
