China's largest fiberglass production line, with an annual capacity of 18,000 tons, has been put into operation at the Chongqing Polycomp International Corporation.
It cost the company, a joint venture between China, the United States and Saudi Arabia, 320 million yuan (38.6 million U.S. dollars) to build the production line. The company is also planning to set up a fiberglass industrial park with a production capacity of 100,000 tons a year by 2005, and make it one of the top ten fiberglass makers in Asia.
China has 150 fiberglass plants with a combined output of 230,000 tons. But the domestic demand is expected to rise faster than that in the international market with the launch of a giant south-north water diversion project and the rapid development of the automotive and information industries.
Fibrelite reports that since the start of its partnership with Trenwa more than 100 precast trench systems integrating Fibrelite composite covers have been sold for use in electrical substations, wastewater treatment plants, chemical refineries and many other applications across North America.
