China's largest fiberglass production line, with an annual capacity of 18,000 tons, has been put into operation at the Chongqing Polycomp International Corporation.
It cost the company, a joint venture between China, the United States and Saudi Arabia, 320 million yuan (38.6 million U.S. dollars) to build the production line. The company is also planning to set up a fiberglass industrial park with a production capacity of 100,000 tons a year by 2005, and make it one of the top ten fiberglass makers in Asia.
China has 150 fiberglass plants with a combined output of 230,000 tons. But the domestic demand is expected to rise faster than that in the international market with the launch of a giant south-north water diversion project and the rapid development of the automotive and information industries.
At the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA)'s third annual Infrastructure Day on 6-7 February 2018 34 ACMA members joined together to meet with over 100 Members of Congress and their staffs to advance legislation to drive investment in innovative material solutions for transportation, water and energy infrastructure.
