The Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek line of engineered composite decking products has recently received a National Evaluation Report (NER) from the National Evaluation Service Inc. (NES) for the use of ChoiceDek(R) in decking, handrails and stair applications.
The NES is the only national program of its kind in the United States which specifically performs evaluations for compliance with requirements of the three model codes and the International Codes of the International Code Council. The model building codes are the National Building Code, Standard Building Code, Uniform Building Code and International Building Code (NBC, SBC, UBC and IBC).
According to AERT chairman, Joe G. Brooks, ""We have extensively tested our AERT products via independent third party laboratories and are pleased to have earned this National Evaluation Report. We would like to express our appreciation to Dave Gromala, PE, and the Weyerhaeuser Technology Center staff for their assistance and support, as well as, our AERT associates for their assistance, dedication and commitment to quality.""
AERT decking products are sold primarily as Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek through an exclusive North American distribution and marketing arrangement with Weyerhaeuser Building Materials. AERT manufactures a growing line of composite building materials made from recycled polyethylene plastic and waste wood fiber and are marketed under the trade names MoistureShield and ChoiceDek for the North American homebuilding market. AERT currently operates a manufacturing facility in Texas and a recycling and manufacturing facility in Arkansas.
