NPL and NetComposites are undertaking a major review of the current competitiveness and future directions of the composites industry.
This important project will draw on the unique experiences and understanding of a wide range of companies, trade bodies and research organisations involved in composites, across a wide range of industry sectors, through a series of surveys and interviews. This will give a clear picture of the breadth of the industry and the issues that it faces now and in the future.
The report will recommend future research, business approaches and market targets needed to maintain and improve the composites industry. Ultimately, the work will identify the major opportunities and threats to the industry, and the appropriate responses needed.
Although based on the UK industry, the report will also give important lessons to other areas of the world, where composites face the same competition from more traditional materials in all areas of industry. In addition, it will define the areas where the UK currently leads the world in composites, and those where it lags behind, giving important pointers to areas that should be improved and areas that should be built upon to retain the UK lead.
Importantly, this study is being undertaken by 2 organisations that intimately know and understand the composites industry, NPL and NetComposites. They will be working hard to ensure that the composites industry owns and contributes to the study, to give a full and fair picture of the industry, so industry sectors, end-users, application areas or individuals are invited to participate. For more information on the project, please contact NPL or NetComposites using the details below, and you can download the survey forms or complete it online through the NetComposites web site (www.netcomposites.com/survey.asp)
