Advanced Technical Products Year End 2000 Results

Advanced Technical Products, Inc., a producer of advanced composite structures and chemical and biological defense products for the aerospace, defense and commercial markets, today reported financial results for the fourth quarter and for the year ended December 31, 2000. Revenues from continuing operations for the year ended December 31, 2000 were $170.73 million compared to $159.78 million for the comparable period in 1999, an increase of $10.95 million or 6.9%. Income from continuing operations for the year ended December 31, 2000 was $7.39 million compared to $5.48 million for the comparable period in 1999, an increase of $1.91 million or 34.9%.

Ameron Reports Higher First-Quarter Earnings

Ameron International Corporation’s first quarter's operating performance reflects the continued strength of their Fiberglass-Composite Pipe and Infrastructure Products businesses. The Fiberglass-Composite Pipe Group's sales and profits increased due to the continued worldwide demand for oil field piping. While shipments to industrial and fuel-handling markets remained flat during the quarter, production of larger-diameter fiberglass pipe began for a water project in California. This is a relatively new market for Ameron's fiberglass pipe and should enhance the already positive outlook for the Fiberglass-Composite Pipe business in 2001.


Fibreglass Tubing to Reach 20,000 Tons

By the year 2005, plastic tubing output in China will reach 1.2 mt, among which 20,000 tons will be glass fiber. It is estimated that the total of outdoor water supply pipeline in both urban and rural areas, will be 40 million meters, with plastic tube accounting for 40 percent. Besides, plastic tubes for reinforcing old ones are estimated to be 300,000 tons, including 140,000 tons of PE tubes, 140,000 tons of PVC tubes, and 20,000 tons of glass fiber reinforced plastic tubes. Cymat Development with European Automotive Supplier

Cymat Corp and a European-based major Tier 1 global automotive supplier have established a co-development program to design and test an automotive component using Cymat's proprietary Stabilized Aluminum Foam (""SAF"") technology. The component will be designed to improve the crashworthiness of vehicles and is intended to form part of a future front-end bumper system for automobiles.


3D Systems and DSM Desotech Form Agreement

3D Systems Corp. and DSM Desotech Inc. are intending to develop and jointly market non-liquid stereolithography (SL) hardware, software and materials for rapid tooling and direct and indirect in-line manufacturing processes. ""With our recent acquisition of OptoForm SARL, additional opportunities are opening up in solid imaging technology,"" said Grant Flaharty, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at 3D Systems. ""We believe that the combination of 3D Systems' cutting-edge hardware and DSM's paste and composites materials -- as well as metals and ceramics -- will expand applications for SL technology into new areas of tooling and manufacturing.""

Quantum Develop Hydrogen Storage System

Thor Industries, the largest mid-size bus manufacturer in the U.S., will use a Quantum hydrogen storage tank system in its new fuel cell bus. Quantum will use its advanced composite Type IV hydrogen storage tank that is uniquely designed and manufactured with a single end boss, one-piece seamless liner and a carbon composite over-wrap. The QUANTUM Type IV hydrogen storage tank is tested and validated to all regulations and standards, including OEM-specific validation tests. Quantum hydrogen storage tanks will be mounted on the roof of the bus.
