Chaparral Wins Powerboat Magazine 'Boat of the Year' Award

20 April 2001

Chaparral Boats has won the Powerboat Magazine "Boat of the Year" award in the Runabout category. This is the third consecutive year in which Chaparral has won a "Boat of the Year" award. Since 1981, the company has been awarded twenty-two Powerboat Magazine Awards for Product Excellence, including eight coveted "Boat of the Year" awards.

This year's winner was the newly designed Chaparral 220 SSi, a state-of- the-art 22 foot bowrider, designed for comfort and convenience. Describing the boat, Powerboat Magazine stated the following, "tracking was perfectly straight at all speeds, even during sudden deceleration. This boat handles perfectly and is totally predictable. That is exactly what you need in a family boat." The article also noted: "mold and gelcoat work on the 220 SSi far exceeded production-boat standards. Chaparral has a knack for that -- we continually see solid workmanship in the products coming out of the Nashville, Ga. based company."

Chaparral Boats, founded in 1965, is the third largest US manufacturer of sterndrive fiberglass recreational boats.
