U.S. Air Force Satellite Launched

A small U.S. Air Force research satellite was boosted into orbit Wednesday by a rocket cobbled from the engines of a retired missile and a Pegasus launch vehicle. The 260-pound satellite named Mightysat 2.1 will operate in a 300-mile polar orbit for a year. It will test 10 technologies, including a spectral imager that uses light to determine the makeup of the terrain and a composite structural material that can adjust its shape
