Japan's Mizuno Formulates Zero Emission Plan For Yoro Plant

22 August 2000

Mizuno Corp, which is said to be the first company in the sporting goods industry to formulate a zero emission plan, plans to eliminate landfill waste at its plant in Yoro, Gifu Prefecture, by the end of 2002. The Yoro plant produces golf clubs and baseball bats and helmets, and in 1999 generated 558 tons of landfill waste. In the future, all waste products will be recycled as either raw material or fuel, and scrap carbon fibre-reinforced plastic from golf club shaft production will be used by NKK as a reducing agent in blast furnaces.
