The Applications Engineer provides a range of technical support functions to both the sales team handling regular technical queries and the innovation team developing new solutions for the market. It is a dynamic role that requires drive and organisation, and an ability to work with a range of people in different roles. This is a new position at bigHead at an exciting time of investment and growth. The role therefore has the potential to develop and grow.
Handle technical enquiries from customers about products and applications.
Handle customer requests for special products.
Provide technical support to sales and business development teams.
Support innovation projects as they develop into market ready solutions.
Assist customers with technical queries and information requests.
Provide technical support to our sales and customer service department.
Review special product requests from customers; “can we make it and do we want to make it?” If yes, complete a cost calculation and provide a customer quotation.
Generate 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models for customer projects.
Support innovation projects with various tasks; project reviews, applications testing, sample preparation, test analysis, technical data collation & presentation.
Participate in various meetings and complete administrative duties as necessary.
Key Skills & Experience
Strong focus on practical engineering challenges and solutions.
Experience of composite materials and applications is an advantage.
Familiarity with CAD systems, drawing creations and GD&T.
Good commercial understanding with an acumen for estimating and costing.
Microsoft Office proficiency.
Ability to prioritise between competing demands.
Very good attention to detail
Excellent organisation, planning & implementation
Natural desire to complete a task accurately and completely
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Excellent time management
