Fibermaq Consolidates Filament Winding Portfolio

During 2017 Brazilian company Fibermaq consolidated its filament winding portfolio.

“The recovery in demand last year helped to restore the losses reported in 2016, when our turnover fell more than 30%," reports Christian de Andrade, Director of Fibermaq. "In parallel, we managed to negotiate a filament winding machine, a sophisticated equipment with higher levels of automation and customisation.”

Among the main contacts of 2017, Andrade highlights the supply of a machine designed to produce conical composite poles of up to 12 m long to Mossoró Premoldados. The pole segment is one of the few that has been immune to the Brazilian crisis. It is estimated that approximately 10% of all poles produced in the country are made of composites, and this share is expected to double over the next two to three years. Lightweight and immune to corrosion, these products are ideal for hard to reach or coastal areas.

For the tank market, he emphasises the construction of a filament winding machine that produces tanks up to 4 m in diameter and 6 m in length. It is in operation at Delta Vinil’s plant.

As for tubes, Fibermaq supplied machines to the Stringal Hurner Group. Each machine produces bars of 6 m in length and 50-700 mm in diameter.
